I have not noticed any side effects of using allopurinol. Sorry I can't give a great "it'll be ok" message - but - I hope it will be, for the OP's BF and for me...I just had my lab results done and my doctor showed me that I had a Uric acid level of 13! I believe he will continue the colchicine until the follow-up uric acid blood test, although I could be getting that detail wrong.You can also do daily Colcrys / colchicine (.5 or .6mg 1x / day) when start Allopurinol and - at least for me - stopped any flare ups that I was getting when I started Allopurinol.Daily Allopurinol User here.
