The side effects of both diets were similar and not severe. Drs have put me on so many meds!
This is a difficult diet to adhere to because even the sugar coating on medication pills has caused problems.
Please offer suggestions.
I was able to maintain the weight loss until I had two seizures, (still on topomax) and have not been able to lose it again. I simply told myself, "Your Mother's Not A FAT ASS, Your Father's not a FAT ASS so your not going to be a FAT ASS!"
Also, 9% of the ketogenic diet and 5% of the modified Atkins diet-treated patients achieved greater than 90% seizure reduction.
More and more people realize that this diet may work just as well in less severe cases of epilepsy, in adults as well.
My days as a certified kitesurfing instructor began when most other people were asleep and ended at sunset.

A week went by and the doctor called me back and said: “Let’s go, but before starting we’ll do a bunch of tests to see if you’re OK to start tapering off and how you’re managing ketosis”.To find out if I was in ketosis and how deep, I used a lot of urine strips. I wonder if I had ever gotten these ideas if I hadn’t been struck by epilepsy and changed my diet!Congratulations on finding a way to go off the antiepileptic drugs! I weighed myself today and found that I'm not 142 lbs anymore, but 144!
My son,who is 37,likes it when I prepare meals,he doesnt like bread, pasta, white potatoes or rice either! I got his Ketonix and love it - gave up the urine strips. :-)Being a vegetarian is not a bad thing to do, but then I get so tempted to eat "bad" food. More and more people realize that this diet may work just as well in less severe cases of epilepsy, in adults as well.Sure, it’s easier to take a few tablets each day in order to avoid epileptic seizures, but drugs against epilepsy have side effects, such as reduced mental clarity.
The only negative article I read about the use of a ketogenic diet was a description of how a ketogenic diet caused "stiffening" of the carotids. US governmental guidelines for adults recommend 45-65% calories from carbohydrates, 10-20% from fat and 10-35% from protein.

I was told the doctor had to go back in and remove the staples. Eating healthy/dieting are all pretty straightforward as long as you do it the right way. Check the nutritional and herbal supplements too that say they help lose weight - there can be seizure triggering substances in them.Sorry for the late response.
Blessings to you.I can just confirm that it works; my son is eating a strict LCHF. Don't want to go back on topomaxI have been on more epiliepsy medication since I was 5 and my weight is like a yoyo because for the growing up years they used me as a guinea pig, from Gabitril,to Tegratol, Lamictal, Phenabarbatol,Depakote, Dilantin, currently it is Vimpat and Keppra XR and no matter how much I walk or exercise, the weight just stays there, I can cut the sugar, cut the pop, and still nothing changes because I believe the drugs screw with your metabolism.
