If I want to use that, would I use one after the other, or maybe cocktail them together? One thing that I will strongly suggest you do is properly dispose of your cream.

I appreciate your concern regarding rational antibiotic use. I can’t wait to see if it works. I read here you should use benzoyl peroxide with it to prevent any resistance building up. It really changed my life when I finally had clear skin because of it. It did come across as condescending and as someone who rarely takes medication let alone use an antiobiotic, unless it's absolutely necessary - reading this was just downright frustrating.

I have met many doctors who do, indeed, "throw" antibiotics at people but that isn't always the case. My doctor pretty much told me as much when I got prescribed the antibiotics, that he wanted to see if that would work first before trying other avenues like accutane - but it can be the answer to some people for their acne issues too. It's just an issue that I feel most people aren't familiar with, but should be. Now my derm has me on tret as maintenance (so yeah, that is probably because like you said the clindamycin will lose effectiveness after a period of time, and hence the switch to tret for maintenance - but the clindamycin was still really effective in my first initial rounds of antibiotics) and I haven't had any major breakouts since then (now it's just maybe getting one or two at that time of the month, or if I tried a new product that breaks me out, and even then I haven't - knock on wood - gotten any of those big painful deep acne since).So anyway - I agree that antibiotics might not be the answer to all acne issues - in a lot of cases it wouldn't work, but I do feel like it's a step most doctors take to see if it would fix the issue first before going into something more potent like accutane, which I think makes some sense.
