They said no one has ever had this side effects before? So very not true—at least here people have been reporting these side effects for years. My husband has used Flonase for 5 years, he's developed constant pressure and ringing in his ears and has recently lost his sense of taste. It was the generic type sold by CVS. Sorry if wrong subreddit but a little nervous. I bought some Nasacort and used it according to the directions for four days.âThen I lost my senses of taste and smell. Flonase is available as a generic drug, and dosing is usually administered as two sprays in each nostril once daily, or one spray in each nostril twice daily. Thank you M Douglas.
Take good care.
After 7 uses I lost my sense of smell and taste.
The FDA knew that could happen. It seems like everyone knows about the risks of Flonase except poor Lana and the millions of other people who are buying the med right now to relieve their allergies. When the prescription version of Flonase hit the market in 1994, GSK quickly began receiving complaints about people who could no longer smell or taste a thing. In fact, the FDA’s own drug interaction database has shown hundreds of complaints from people who suffered a loss of smell and taste after taking Flonase. One woman from Georgia lost both senses after taking the drug in 2003 — and, 12 years later, she hasn’t improved at all.Reports like this are why the label for prescription Flonase was required to carry a warning about “alteration or loss of sense of taste and/or smell.”But when Flonase was approved for OTC sale last year, the warning mysteriously disappeared. Thank goodness, because she's an excellent cook!I have been using OTC Flonase by md suggestion for a good year because of pretty bad, non-stop sinus allergies that often contributed to my chronic bronchitis. Lost my sense of taste after using the generic Flonase very briefly.
Gradually, I regained some, but it's been 2 years now and I only got back about 75%.
It's truly frustrating and disheartening to hear that others suffer from this condition. I looked into legal recourse, but no one would legally acknowledge that Flonase had done something to my senses. Today is well know that almost everyone is zinc deficient. My understanding is that the zinc in Xicam was also implicated in loss of the sense of smell.Hi i was prescribed yhis spray for chronic sinusitis. I immediately STOPPED using OTC Flonase.
Would you update if you got your senses back?I used 2 squirts of flonase (the prods advised dosage) and woke up the next morning with a total loss of smell.
Find information about common, infrequent and rare side effects of Flonase Nasal.
All along I have had headaches, caught tons of colds, trouble sleepi - only took one dose when will the anxiety leave?????? While this side effect is listed in the information for prescription Flonase, there is no mention of it on either OTC drug label. Devastating..
This is the worstI used flonase for about 9 months, every night, (2pumps each nostril) before bed and in morning. Thanks again. After 10 days my sense of smell and taste are back - I will never take another nasal spray again moving forward.Thank you for following up to let us know it returned.
!I used Flonase only one time on 4-14-2015 and noticed 2 days later that my sense of smell was almost totally gone.
I only used it a few times and attributed the loss of smell to my cold. 3 Replies.
I has come back as of today, 5 days later. Has anyone else experienced this with Flonase?
Looking at seeing an ENT doctor. Its been 6 months for me since I lost my sense of smell and taste.
Until I stumbled upon this blog. He is also taking Flonase, one squirt in each notstril every morning. Not to mention, 2 weeks after I stared taking it I caught a horrible cold and I never get sick, accept for my allergies. I only took it for about 3 weeks - it should be out of your system already. Did you try it? I could not even smell natural gas. You don't really absorb much of it, it just acts topically on the nasal passagesIt made me bloated, excitable, moody, depressed, angry and most of all, lost my sense of smell.
I believe that flonase contains a anti-inflamitory steriod that may be triggering the loss of appetite.
BTW - I find that the posting of ads for the purchase of the meds that made us ill , ads that are now embedded in our discussion, to be a distasteful practice.
