?We went home after 2 days in the hospital just like normal, however he was readmitted the very next day for jaundice where he stayed for 2 more days. She had no lung issues, was breathing on her own immediately.
My DS was born at 35w6d. His breathing was just fine and no problems there. 37? Hello mommas,I am 34 weeks and had to go to labor and delivery last night for bloody show and 5-7 min contractions. She will want to take the stitch out if I have more than 4 BH in an hour so there is a chance I'll be having this baby a bit earlier than planned.) That's really good to hear! Should I expect NICU time? Like you, I had the steroid shots at 28 weeks. My daughter was born at 34+5 after induction due to premature rupture of membranes. Looks like I will be having a scheduled c section within the next week to 10 days due to mild preeclampsia. i am currently 1.5 cm dilated, 60% effaced and shes -2 stationed in my pelvis. He had trouble breathing at birth and had to be sent up to the NICU, he was on a cpap machine for a couple days until his breathing problems worked themselves out. DS was an iugr baby so he was born very small at 3lb7oz so he was admitted to the nicu for hypoglycemia and to work on his feeding. I got her breast feeding at home by 3 weeks and now she is 6 weeks and officially past her due date !! My entire pregnancy the doctors goal was to get me to 34 weeks since I have a half a uterus. I do read discussions and comment on them but never really had much to say myself. My niece was born at 33 weeks and was fine, she needed a 3 week nicu stay strictly because of her weight. My 36 weekers were perfect& came home with me but id like to be prepared& know what I'm facing if I go in the next 2 weeks.
5lbs12oz and 5lbs4oz. Had it not been for random popped lung my DD would have come right home with me at my discharge date.My baby was born at exactly 34 weeks after my waters broke 5 days earlier ... She is now 2 weeks old (36 weeks adjusted ) and we are both heading home tomorrow ;) when my waters broke I was given the steroid injections and bub s only main issues have been her feeding, slight jaundice and just being a premmie in general ;)My twins were born at 34+2. If a mother and her health care provider know that the baby might be coming early, an amniocentesis may be performed to check the maturity level of the lungs. See, im 35+1 now and was told i could give birth early, so 24 weeks was a milestone and so was 35 as i decided that after 35 is 'ok' not perfect but its doable and Baby would be fine..im sat at home now having pains, the same as i have had for days and im off to the hospital tomorrow to get checked, but it was all 'ok' as im 35 weeks, Baby is measuring almost 37 and he weighs over … ?I am glad that you got them...that should help! bear with me, this post is probably gonna become long eventually. Thanks so much mrshenderson081807!
This action cannot be undone.Just so you know, What to Expect may make commissions on shopping links on this page. This discussion is archived and locked for posting.I'm currently on strict bedrest to prevent preterm labor at 34weeks, 1day. I was given steroid injections and I also tested positive for group strep B. I had oral antibiotics for those 2 weeks and IV antibiotics whilst in labour and my baby had IV … They were 32 weekers and had CPAP for a few days, phototherapy for jaundice and were feeders and growers. In other words, antenatal steroid treatment can prevent the deaths of about 3 out of 100 preterm babies within the first few weeks of birth. I'd never heard of a car bed before. Steroid treatment reduces the risk of lung problems for babies who are born early, particularly for those born between 29 and 34 weeks of pregnancy. !My dd was 34w1d... She had to have Cpap (oxygen) for 2 days and a feeding tube until discharge at day 12.
So if it wasn't for her breathing and needing oxygen we probably wouldn't have had to stay. I was induced because I was swelling severely (10 lbs of water weight in 2 days!)
After that he wasn't able to leave because he had basically no suck reflex and wasn't able to eat very well. Since you have had them, I doubt any of my experience will be yours. Thanks lstaylor73 for the book recommendation.
Thanks Rach! My doctor told me that she thinks the baby will be able to go home with me if I deliver after I've hit the 35 week mark, but I wanted to hear some stories from people that have been there. ?Fortunately he needed no time in the NICU at all. ?He weighed 5 lbs even and came out breathing on his own perfectly! Oh and I have had the steroid shots at 24 weeks. He rode in a "car bed" until our due date, then passed with flying colors. DD weighed 4 lbs 3 oz and was 16.5" long.
